Getting around by bus, taxi or even water taxi!

The Dolmus

By far the easiest & cheapest way to get around, the Dolmus runs every 15 mins or so, and costs just a few lira whether you are travelling a few stops, or the entire route.

Bus stops have  a white square, with a big blue D.

There are 2 main routes:

  • Via Günlükbasi – this minibus runs from Çalış beach, up Barış Manço and then along the main road into Fethiye, and back. Look for Günlükbasi in the window if you want to get to / from the beach.
  • Via Sahilden – this runs between Çalış beach & Fethiye along the coast road.

Water Taxi

The Fethiye Çalış water taxi runs throughout the summer season between May and October.

Price for 2032 is 60tl per person each way.

It runs every 30 minutes, on the hour and the half hour, between Çalış and Fethiye and vice versa. Boards at the ticket booths tell you the times of the last water taxi, both ways. This changes according to low, mid and high season.

In Çalış, the Çalış Boat Co-op ticket booth is the conspicuous construction on the canal by the bridge that leads to the beach. In Fethiye, the ticket booth is along the harbour by the children’s park. It’s between Cafe Geniş and Address Restaurant.

Taxi’s

Taxi’s are both plentiful & cheap, with a trip from the beach to villa costing around 40 lira, or Fethiye town around 100 Lira.

Most taxi drivers speak passable English, and have a good knowledge of the local area.

The easiest way to get a cab back to the villa is to ask for Hotel Kaan in Çalış (pronounced CHALISH), which is 50 mtr. down the road, then point out the villa as you approach.

Taxi call buttons can be found on lamp posts every few hundred meters on main roads. They are yellow boxes about 8 x 10 inch with an antenna on them. Simply press the red button, and wait a few minutes.
