Dine Out

Çalış has literally 100’s of restaurants, although most are offering very similar menus’s primarily targetting the English tastes.

It is difficult to get a bad meal, and there are some excellent venues tucked away, especially on the coast road into Fethiye. Here are a few suggestions:

The Fish Market

Simply choose from a vast aray of seafood and shellfish at the Fethiye Fish Market , pay the fishmonger and take your purchase to whichever restaurant takes your fancy.

The restaurant will suggest ways of cooking, and create your own menu. All you pay for is the cooking & side dishes – salads, mezze, bread and wine!

Meat options are also available in the restaurants..

Carikli Et

On the prom into Fethiye, Carikli offer a wide range of steaks, pizza’s, wraps, burgers etc.in a more refined setting than many of the restaurants in Çalış Beach. They have a reputation for being the best steak house in town.

Shopping

Groceries

There are several convenience stores & mini supermarkets within easy walking (200 meters) of the villa. Simply head to “Barış Manço Blv”. This is the main road into Çalış and the beach, and this is the start of the shops and restaurants.

There are a number of larger supermarkets on the road into town, notably BIM (does’nt sell alcohol!) and Sol.

The biggest supermarket around is Migros, it is on Yerguzlar cd (the Fethiye road) around 20 mins walk, or around £2.50 in a taxi.

Market Days

Like to haggle? Love a bargain? – Then a Turkish market is for you!

Turkish markets are a real eye opener, fresh food, local produce, hot and cold food, 100% genuine fake Armani handbags, Ralf Loren T shirts, Beats wireless headphones, freshly squeezed fruit juices and great banter make for an entertaining visit – and you may even find a watch which will still work when you get home!

Markets are open from around 9 am, and close at dusk.

Çalış Market is open on Sunday’s, and is around a 10 minute stroll from the villa. Çalış market place is on Yerguzlar Caddesi in Günlükbaşı. Turn right outside the villa, then left by the swings. Cross Baris Mancho and follow the road (signposted to Blueberry Boutique Hotel).

View the location on Google Maps.

Fethiye Market is on Tuesdays and is a much bigger affair, and has hundreds of stalls. It is located around the football stadium, a couple of blocks inland from the beach. There is also a smaller market on the same site on Friday’s, but this is pretty much just fruit & veg.
